My Story

1.jpg

Hi! I’m Hannah Red Hill! I have always been trying to find who I am supposed to be.

While living in Playa Del Carmen, México, I would swim every day. One day, a man came out to where I was swimming and told me I was a mermaid and he had been mesmerized by my swimming. Two weeks later (on a new moon) I was out in the water and had the realization that I could actually be a mermaid!

I immersed myself in mermaid culture, took mermaid classes, earned my PADI mermaid license, went swimming in a cenote, volunteered at the California Mermaid Convention, found a perfect tail, and attended Sum-MER Camp.

I moved to Baja California and wrote and illustrated a book called "Hanita Finds Her Porpoise" based on my life underwater. BUY THE BOOK HERE

"Hanita is not sure who she wants to be when a rainbow appears and leads her into a world full of unexpected wonders. Guided by mysterious signs, playful creatures, and friends old and new, she chases the scary joy of figuring out where she belongs.

Based on the true story of how Hannah became Hanita La Sirenita."

I use my 20 years of bilingual teaching experiences and perform this story of belonging to parties, schools, festivals, and community spaces.

.

Imagination, transformation, and wonder guide everything I do, helping others believe in the impossible, even if just for a moment. I’m passionate about building community and creating a sense of belonging for every mer out there.
